I make no apologies to returning yet again to the “expenses scandal”. My big fear is that with The Daily Telegraph apparently losing interest in the story, the true depth of some of the abuses of tax payers’ money will not be revealed.
Take, for instance, the latest blog entry by our local Labour MP, Derek Wyatt. The blog contains the assertion that Mr Wyatt has “…at all time tried to act in a transparent way…”
Oh, yeah?
OK, Mr Wyatt, if that is true then why not be “transparent” by telling your constituents:-
Why you claim a second homes allowance on a London property in which you spend four nights a week and which, technically, should be designated your “main home”?
What is the location of the home you are currently listing as your “main home” and which enables you to claim a second home allowance on the London residence in which you stay Monday to Thursday every week?
Do you actually still live in the Sittingbourne & Sheppey constituency?
In the past you have stated that you are not prepared to reveal the whereabouts of your homes in order to “protect your family”. Please tell us which members of your family share your homes with you?
If Mr Wyatt truly believes in “transparency” then he will no doubt answer at least some of these questions. However, failure to do so will leave his constituents believing that he has something to hide.
Over to you, Mr Wyatt…!
