Last week was busy. But what's new?
Sunday my director of e-campaigning, Jess McMahon, and I filmed our video for February's campaign. We are focussing on the Economy and will be highlighting the way in which Gordon Brown made the recession worse. I'm not sure how the video will turn out but Jess seemed pretty happy with the shoot.
Monday I had a full day tour of the constituency with my Agent, John Burke, to identify suitable poster sites and seek permission to erect them. It was a very productive day!
Tuesday I visited SWEEEP, an electrical recycling plant in Sittingbourne, to be filmed by a group of students from London who are doing their masters degrees. I am immensely proud that we have a company like SWEEEP in our constituency and I was delighted to show the film makers round the plant and explain how they operated.
Wednesday Louise and I delivered leaflets to Kemsley Fields. Thank goodness the rain held off!
Thursday I spent all day preparing leaflets for delivery in other parts of the constituency. I also finished off copy for a couple of my early action election literature.
Friday we had a full scale meeting of our campaign team. Usually, we restrict attendance to a few team members, but this close to a General Election we decided to involve the full team. There were 19 people crammed into my agent's lounge. It was a good meeting and we covered a lot of ground.
Saturday I joined half a dozen of my senior campaign team members at a conference in Bedfordshire to discuss our national election campaign strategy and how it fits into our local campaign. It was good to catch up with some of the couple of hundred other parliamentary candidates who were also there with their campaign teams.
We left with a spring in our steps and determination in our hearts.
And so to Sunday again. Yesterday, we delivered 3000 leaflets to Murston. Another good day!
