GORDON HENDERSON MP

FOR SITTINGBOURNE & SHEPPEY

Saturday 10th - Sunday 11th July 2010

Saturday 10th July 2010

10:00 Louise and I take a trip to Barton’s Point to visit the Sheppey Sea Cadets open day. We chatted with a few cadets and promised Lt Commander Brian Moore that we would return another day at which time I would be happy to be taken out sailing. A unique promise from a renowned land lubber!

11:00 The village of Tunstall in my constituency have been holding a week-long festival and Lou and I decided to support it by visiting as many of the 14 gardens that were open for inspection in the hour and a half that we had available. It was great fun and one of the gardens belonged to my UKIP opponent at the last General Election, Ian Davison. I like Ian and wish that he was a member of the Conservative Party, because he would be an excellent addition to the green benches (in a different constituency of course!) adding another voice to the growing Better Off Out voice in Parliament.

13:00 I spent the afternoon on those domestic jobs that build up during the week and by Saturday cannot be put off any longer. My fellow commuters to London will know exactly what I mean!

19:00 Louise and I were honoured guests at the Avenue Theatre to see the first film that was being put on in an effort to provide the town with a service now that the cinema had closed. The film was Avatar, and it was excellent. Tickets were £4 for adults and I was surprised at how few seats were occupied. I know it was the first event, I know it was unbearably hot; I know it was a Saturday night; but where were all those people who have complained so much about the closure of our local cinema? We now have a monthly film session in Sittingbourne, please support it because the old adage still holds good: “Use it or lose it”!

Sunday 11th July 2010

A day off (except for writing this blog and answering emails!).
