GORDON HENDERSON MP

FOR SITTINGBOURNE & SHEPPEY

Press Release: 08.06.09

8th June 2009
Gordon delighted at KCC election results

Local Tory Parliamentary candidate, Gordon Henderson, has expressed delight at the outcome of the KCC elections in Sittingbourne & Sheppey.

The combined vote across the constituency gave the Conservative Party a 45% share, with Labour on 22%, the Liberal Democrats on 18% and “Others” on 15%.

Gordon said:

‘I am absolutely delighted at the results of the KCC elections. We now have a full team of Conservative county councillors representing Sittingbourne & Sheppey and I am sure they will work together to improve the level of service the Kent County Council provides the area’s council tax payers.

‘Overall, results in Sittingbourne & Sheppey show that local voters have rejected the failed policies of the Labour Party. Our next test will be the General Election and although we achieved a 45% share of the vote in the KCC elections we are not complacent.

‘We know that we have a hard battle ahead if we are to win Sittingbourne & Sheppey for the first time, but we are up for the fight.’
