Below are the campaigns that Gordon Henderson is currently involved with:

Encourage people in the constituency to become more involved in the Arts. As a sign of his commitment to the local Arts scene Gordon has been involved with the Swale Arts Forum and for the past two years has been a contributor to the Forum’s annual bursary award.

Crack down on the fly tipping which is such a scourge of our local environment. Gordon has been pressing local supermarkets to take more responsibility for collecting shopping trolleys that have been dumped illegally.

Protect what remains of our green space from the over development imposed on our area by unrealistic Government house building targets. As part of this campaign Gordon joined local people protesting about plans to build 5000 at the Kent Science Park.

Oppose Boris Johnson’s idea to build a Heathrow sized airport on an island off the north coast of Sheppey. As part of his campaign Gordon won the support of the British Air Transport Association.

Keep open Kent’s Fire and Rescue call centre in Maidstone and stop it being moved to Hampshire. As part of the campaign Gordon joined three other local Conservative parliamentary candidates, Tracey Crouch, Helen Grant and Laura Sandys, on a visit to the centre to offer support to the staff who were threatened with losing their jobs.

Clean up residential areas across the constituency and cut down on the amount of litter and rubbish that is dumped in our streets and alleyways. As part of this campaign Gordon joined a Swale Borough Council cleansing team when it carried out a clean up exercise on a housing estate.

Improve the provision of sports facilities across the constituency. Gordon has actively supported Sheppey Sunday League’s efforts to improve the standard of pitches in the area, Sittingbourne Community College’s plans to improve sports facilities at the east end of the town and recently took the shadow sports minister, Hugh Robertson MP, to be briefed on Sheppey Rugby Club’s impressive development plans.
