Gordon Henderson “sorry” Wyatt is going

Local Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, Gordon Henderson, has responded to the shock news that MP Derek Wyatt has decided to stand down at the next General Election.

Gordon said:

“I am sorry that Derek Wyatt is quitting. I lost to him by just 79 votes at the last General Election and I was looking forward to doing battle again.

“Mr Wyatt would have made a worthy Labour opponent and I expected another close result. However, I think with hard work I could have beaten him fair and square this time round.

“I think also that having decided to quit Mr Wyatt should have followed the example of Ian Gibson in Norwich North and stepped down with immediate affect.

“Holding a bye-election now would have given the people of Sittingbourne & Sheppey the chance to pass judgement on Gordon Brown and his Labour Government.”
