Funding for Lower Road, Sheppey

For some time I have been pressing for KCC to improve the junction at the bottom of Barton Hill Drive in Minster-on-Sea.

A temporary traffic management measure has improved the situation, but the long term solution of a new roundabout has been held up whilst the KCC found funding to pay for the scheme.

Eventually the KCC submitted an application to the Local Enterprise Partnership, who included it in a list of projects for which they sought funding from the Government.

I recently raised the matter with the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Sajid Javid, and urged him to ensure that the Lower Road roundabout scheme was included in the final list of LEP projects that would be awarded funding.

I was delighted yesterday to meet with Mr Javid again at which time he informed me that the Lower Road scheme had been made a priority and that the LEP would be given the necessary funds to ensure it could happen. Result!
