MP celebrates milestone at new homes development in Queenborough
Keepmoat Homes and Gordon Henderson, MP for Sittingbourne and Sheppey, have celebrated a milestone at the Nelson Vue new homes development in Queenborough by officially opening the show homes on the site.
Nelson Vue is part of the first phase of the Queenborough and Rushenden Regeneration Scheme on the Isle of Sheppey, which the Government has invested £350m into. The transformational work includes the creation of new housing on brownfield sites, with £866m of the funding allocated to support this.
Based off Rushenden Road, Nelson Vue will feature 101 new homes, 30 of which will be made available for shared ownership through a partnership between Keepmoat and Heylo Housing.
The development is Keepmoat’s first project on the island. As well as bringing high quality new homes to the area the homebuilder is also investing £450,000 into a range of community activities and projects. Areas that are set to benefit include youth and social care, local primary and adult education needs and improvements to public rights of way.
Councillor Cameron Beart, Councillor Richard Darby and Councillor Peter Marchington also attended the ceremony.
Mick O’Farrell, Regional Managing Director in the South for Keepmoat Homes, said:
“We are very proud of the work we are doing on the Isle of Sheppey. With an easy commute to London, local attractions nearby and amenities and schools on your doorstep, Nelson Vue is ideally located and has a lot to offer.
“The project is also a holistic one that will transform the area and bring a wide range of benefits to the community. This includes the investments we are making but also the jobs and training opportunities that the development will generate. We aren’t just building homes at Nelson Vue but creating a vibrant new neighbourhood where current and future generations can thrive.”
Gordon Henderson, MP for Sittingbourne and Sheppey, said:
“I was delighted to visit Nelson Vue and hand over the front door key to the first resident.
“I looked round one of the properties and was very impressed with the quality.
“If the rest of the proposed development is as good, then I really think the regeneration of the area will be a success.”
