MP to host two Q&A sessions for 16-25 year olds
Gordon Henderson MP will be hosting two Q&A sessions, in association with Parliament Week , for young people aged 16-25 to have their say on issues which might be important to them.
Parliament Week, which will take place between 19th-25th November 2012, is a new initiative, supported by the House of Commons and the House of Lords, to raise awareness of Parliament and to encourage people to engage with it and learn more about its role.
Mr Henderson’s first Q&A session will take place on Monday 19th November 2012 at Sittingbourne Baptist Church, opposite Wilkinsons in Sittingbourne High Street and the second will take place on Friday 23rd November 2012 in the main hall at Sheppey Academy (East Site), Minster Road, Sheerness.
The one hour Q&A sessions, commencing at 9am, will provide an opportunity for young people to ask questions, for example, regarding further education and employment.
Refreshments will be available afterwards, at which time, attendees will be able to talk to Mr Henderson more informally and network with each other. The event is expected to finish at approximately 11am.
Mr Henderson said,
“I regularly communicate with my constituents and hold Q&A sessions for local businesses, however, I feel it is important to also listen to the younger generation within my constituency who will be the future of our country.
“This event will provide the opportunity for young people to discuss with me any issues currently affecting them or to pass on their opinions on what is important to them.”
For security reasons anyone wishing to attend a Q&A session must register to reserve a place by contacting Samantha Williams on 01795 423199 or email [email protected].
