MP welcomes re-opening of Milton Regis Sub Post Office

Local MP, Gordon Henderson has welcomed the news from Post Office Ltd that Mr Arun of the Convenience Store at 79-81 High Street has been appointed as the new Sub-postmaster and looks forward to its re-opening in the New Year once staff training and building adaptations are complete.

The former Post Office at 75-77 High Street closed temporarily in July 2010 due to the retirement of the previous Sub-postmaster, John Stephens.

Mr Henderson said,

“Traders in the High Street and residents of Milton Regis will be delighted with the news. It comes as a marvellous Christmas present to the area and will ensure New Year will be hopefully a more prosperous one for the business which have been affected by the temporary closure.

“My thanks to Post Office Ltd for keeping to their word and working so hard with my staff and other community representatives to bring this about.”

Local Kent County Council member, Mike Whiting, said,

"This is a great result for the traders and residents in Milton Regis. Thanks must go to everyone involved in putting this solution together and, thereby, helping to ensure the future prosperity of the High Street."

A date for the Post Office re-opening is yet to be confirmed by Mr Arun and Post Office Ltd once his plans are complete.
