MP encourages young people to spend their share of £100,000

Gordon Henderson MP is encouraging young people aged between 16 and 21 in Sittingbourne and Sheppey to enter an online competition to win a share of £100,000 towards bringing a business or community idea to life.

Launched by Barclays and Channel 4, The Stake aims to inspire young people to generate ideas that will make a difference to their local community. The best ideas will be picked by an online community to be considered by a panel of judges and up to six winners will be given up to £20,000 (a minimum of £1,000) to make their idea a reality in early 2012.

Mr Henderson said,

“I would encourage every young person in Sittingbourne and Sheppey to get involved. I want them to realise that business and social enterprise can be fun and that commitment and passion can be rewarded.

“I would say to them this: If you want something to do in your local community, if you want to change something, if you want to stand out then The Stake is the perfect opportunity for you to make it happen.”
