Supporting local businesses remains a top priority
As many commentators predict that 2012 will present a number of challenges for local businesses, helping them through the difficult times ahead remains to top priority for MP Gordon Henderson.
Following the success of Mr Henderson’s Sittingbourne & Sheppey Link 2 Business initiative last year, he is keen to continue his commitment to help businesses to survive the current economic downturn.
Mr Henderson said:
“Meeting with local businesses through the Sittingbourne & Sheppey Link 2 Business has enabled me to forge good links with them and to gain a better understanding of the problems they face.
“2012 will continue to be a difficult year with many businesses struggling financially, however, I am confident that businesses will be able to grow and unemployment figures will be reduced once the potential investment opportunities in Sittingbourne and Sheppey start to become reality.”
Mr Henderson is planning a programme of visits to local businesses during 2012, in addition, he will continue to hold monthly business breakfasts on the last Friday of each month.
Following the results from a recent questionnaire completed by members of the Sittingbourne & Sheppey Link 2 Business website, this year will see a variety of new locations, prices and breakfast options
The first business breakfast will take place on Friday 27th January 2012 at the Hempstead House Hotel in Bapchild between 8am – 10am. Anyone interested in attending should register on the Sittingbourne & Sheppey Link 2 Business website (www.blinkss.co.uk) and click on ‘Business Forum’, where a full 2012 schedule can also be found.
In addition, Mr Henderson will be holding a special Cream Tea Reception in the House of Commons on Tuesday 22nd May 2012 from 4pm-6pm for local businesses. Further details will be released soon.
