Businesses encouraged to seize the moment to start and grow

Individuals and businesses within Sittingbourne and Sheppey are being encouraged to seize the moment to start or grow their business in an effort to make this year the year of enterprise.

Local MP, Gordon Henderson, is encouraging those of his constituents who have inspirational ideas and ambitions to make them become a reality with the support available through a new website which has been launched by the Prime Minister, David Cameron, as the first step of a nationwide year-long campaign.

The new website ‘Business in You’ (http://businessinyou.bis.gov.uk/), which is being backed by the British Chamber of Commerce, the Institute of Directors and the Federation of Small Businesses, offers a variety of resources to start up or grow a business including inspirational stories of other entrepreneurs, direct access to the Business Link website and information on where people can find help and support.

Mr Henderson said:

“If we can encourage individuals and businesses to start-up or grow their businesses, the more sustainable the local economy will become, which is really important in the current climate.

“I hope this new campaign will provide the help and support a number of my constituents might need to turn their ideas into a reality and I am more than happy also to assist them in any way I can.”

Mr Henderson already provides advice to local businesses in his constituency through his Sittingbourne & Sheppey Link 2 Business website and by holding monthly business breakfasts. Details of the next business breakfast taking place on Friday 24th February 2012 at the St Georges Business Park in Sittingbourne can be found by visiting: www.blinkss.co.uk.
