MP welcomes new support for Medway Hospital

Gordon Henderson MP has welcomed new support arrangements at Medway Hospital.

A small team of experts from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital Trust, has been bought in to help the senior management team at Medway deliver further improvements to the care it delivers for patients.

Gordon Henderson said, “This is good news for my constituents in Sittingbourne and Sheppey who deserve the best health care available. They rely on Medway Hospital to provide that care but sadly in the past few years the performance of the hospital has been poor, leading to it going into Special Measures in 2013.

“There have been a number of changes to the leadership at the Hospital Trust in recent years but the hospital remained in Special Measures, so I am delighted with this latest move which brings some of the best experts in the NHS to help Medway make the necessary changes.

“I will continue to closely monitor progress at the hospital and look forward to the new team quickly turning a corner to improve performance or the benefit of patients.”
