MP urges constituents to back new M2 J5 plans

Gordon Henderson MP is urging residents and businesses to back plans for the new junction 5 at Stockbury roundabout.

Highways England has today published a Notice to progress the revised junction design, which now has a flyover. The new design came after previous schemes were rejected by Mr Henderson, Kent County Council, Swale Borough Council and the overwhelming majority of local people and businesses.

Mr Henderson said, ‘This new design is a massive improvement on the previous one, which was rejected by Government after an outcry from local people, politicians and businesses. I want everyone now to get behind this new scheme and write in support of it.’

‘The new junction is vital for the economic development of Sittingbourne and Sheppey and is long overdue. I hope there is a strong response from the local community and businesses in order for work to start as early as March next year.’
Highways England is seeking objections or representations by 25th July 2019. These can be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport at the National Transport Casework Team, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle Business Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE4 7AR or [email protected].
