MP encourages local groups to apply for Lottery funding
Gordon Henderson is encouraging local community and voluntary groups in Sittingbourne and Sheppey to apply for grant funding through the Big Lottery Fund.
The Big Lottery Fund (BIG) is currently responsible for delivering around half of all funds raised for good causes. It funds projects connected to health, education, environment and charitable purposes, with a focus on improving communities and the lives of people most in need.
Since January 2011, seven local groups have been awarded Lottery funding totaling £49,973. These include:
• Kemsley Primary School – Purchased equipment to establish a fitness facility for children and young people in the area.
• Sittingbourne Community College – Delivered a health and well-being programme for the wider community called The Butterfly Project.
• Minster Nursery Group – Purchased new equipment to use in its new premises to expand its services for the number of children that attend the group.
Mr Henderson said,
“The Big Lottery Fund is very keen to receive applications for funding and so I urge local community and voluntary groups in my constituency, who need a grant to make repairs or improvements or expand their services, to act quickly.”
