MP provides contact information for constituents on Southern Cross
Gordon Henderson would like to provide contact information to his constituents in the hope it will allay their fears over the closure of Southern Cross.
Southern Cross is a major provider of care homes across the UK, however, is has recently been experiencing financial difficulties. Southern Cross have now suspended trading on its shares and there is a planned process of transferring the running of the homes to other operators.
There are five Southern Cross care homes in Kent, including Elvy Court in Sittingbourne, which has 57 registered residents.
It is advised that residents or relatives and friends of a resident in Elvy Court, who are funded by Kent County Council, must speak to their Care Manager. Any residents who fund their own placements, must speak to Maggie Morris, the Kent County Council contact at Elvy Court.
Kent County Council have also set up a Southern Cross helpline on 08458 247 100.
Mr Henderson said,
“Many of my constituents will be worried following the recent news on Southern Cross, however, I would urge them to contact the relevant people for further information to allay their fears.
“I would like to assure my constituents that I will be monitoring the progress of any transfer of operator at Elvy Court in Sittingbourne to ensure that the welfare of residents remains their main priority.”
