MP congratulates team of volunteers who raised money for the
RBL’s 90th Anniversary and thanks constituents who donated.
Local MP, Gordon Henderson has congratulated a team of volunteers who raised a total of £131.24 on 11th June 2011 for the Royal British Legion’s 90th Anniversary and would like to thank all his constituents who kindly donated to the cause.
Mat McGill, caseworker to Gordon Henderson MP, organised for a group of volunteers to man two stalls, one in Sittingbourne High Street and one in Sheerness High Street, between 10am-4pm and give out items including t-shirts and wrist bands donated by the Royal British Legion in return for a small donation.
The Sittingbourne stall, which raised £68.82, was run by Mat McGill, the Mayor and Mayoress of Swale, Ben Stokes and Sylvia Bennett and Kent County Councillor, Mike Whiting.
The Sheerness Stall, which raised £62.42, was run by RBL member, Steve Louch, the Sheerness Sea Cadets, the Deputy Mayor and Tracey and Rodney Holkham from the Dannyboy Trust.
Gordon Henderson MP also helped man both stalls during the day.
Mr Henderson said,
“I would like to say thank you to all those who volunteered their time to make this event a success and particularly to all my constituents who kindly made a donation.
“My caseworker, Mat McGill, did a very good job at organising this event and I am really pleased that all those involved managed to raise £131.24 in just a few hours for the Royal British Legion, which is considered an important charity for so many of my constituents.”
