A Sheppey First! councillor has decided to join the Conservative Group on Swale Borough Council.
The decision by Lesley Ingham, who represents Sheppey Central on Swale Borough Council, has been welcomed by local Tory Parliamentary Candidate, Gordon Henderson.
Mr. Henderson said:
‘I have known Lesley for many years and always respected her for the way in which she put the interests of her local community before party politics.
‘There was never any doubt in my mind that she was a conservative at heart, but I know she felt that becoming a Sheppey First! councillor was the best way for her to promote the interests of the Island.
‘I am delighted that Lesley now realises that the Conservative councillors on Sheppey also put the interests of the Island first and that she can do more for the people of Sheppey by joining their team.
‘I very much hope that the other two Sheppey First! councillors will take a similar decision and increase the influence of the Island’s Conservatives over the decision making process at Swale House.’
