MP welcomes new noise and vibration study at Shoeburyness
Gordon Henderson MP has welcomed a new noise and vibration study by the Ministry of Defence and QinetiQ at the MOD Shoeburyness range but regrets its delay.
The study, contracted to Southdowns Environmental Consultants, will revisit and revalidate the conclusions of a previous report in 2004 to ensure the noise and vibration levels remain the same. However, the new study will not be commissioned until after 2015 due to the need to procure and test new specialised noise equipment.
Mr Henderson said,
“The noise and vibration of the explosions at Shoeburyness affect a number of residents in my constituency and so I am pleased the new study has been commissioned and will test the levels. However, I am disappointed it is not being carried out earlier.”
