MP supports BCC view for removal of employment regulatory barriers
Local MP, Gordon Henderson has supported a call by the British Chambers of Commerce for the Government to remove employment regulatory barriers to job creation and provide the public sector with the right environment to drive economic recovery.
The British Chambers of Commerce has highlighted six new employment regulations that it claims will hit business in 2011. These are:
• Right to Request time off to train (Small businesses)
• Removal of the Default Retirement Age
• Dual Discrimination
• Additional Paternity Leave and Pay
• Extension of the Right to Request flexible working to parents of 17 year olds
• Agency Workers Directive
Mr Henderson said,
“I have set as one of my top priorities working with members of our local business community to help them through the tough economic climate ahead. I know that one of their biggest gripes is the amount of red tape they face on a daily basis which is why I fully support the British Chamber of Commerce in its crusade to persuade the Government to reduce the burden of regulation imposed on business.”
