Young people encouraged to use new careers service
Young people in Sittingbourne and Sheppey are being encouraged by their local MP, Gordon Henderson, to use a new careers service recently launched by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.
The National Careers Service combines face to face local advice with a new interactive website - https://nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk.
Mr Henderson said,
“Sittingbourne and Sheppey has approximately 3,200 unemployed people, many of whom do not yet know which career path they would like to take or they are struggling to meet the criteria set by employers so access to local advice would prove invaluable to them in helping to find and achieve their potential.”
It is expected the new service will:
• Provide information and advice through the use of the helpline and website.
• Offer face to face advice in local communities
• Provide detailed sector by sector labour market information.
• Provide tools such as a CV builder and Skills Health Check
• Provide clear information on skills, careers and financial support.
