No Business Rates for Small Businesses in 2012/13

A temporary reduction on businesses rates for small businesses in Sittingbourne and Sheppey has been welcomed by the local MP.

The Government has doubled the rate of Small Business Rate Relief for 2012/13, which will mean businesses occupying one property with a rateable value of £6000 will pay no rates and businesses occupying one property with a rateable value of £12000 will receive a discount on their bill.

Mr Henderson welcomed this news saying:

“I am pleased the Government is helping small businesses within my constituency to sustain their current levels of business and grow by reducing business rates for this financial year.”

Businesses in Sittingbourne and Sheppey who are eligible for the discount in business rates should have been notified by Swale Borough Council of their rate payment for 2012/13 when they received their last bill.
