Sittingbourne resident wins children’s book competition
Sittingbourne resident, Kevin Ralph, has won a competition run by Gordon Henderson MP, which will see him become the official illustrator of Mr Henderson’s children’s book.
The book titled ‘The Almost Twins and the Litter Angel’ is about Jessica and Jack, who are helped by Eric the Litter Angel, after their puppy ‘Dog’ injures its paw on a rusty can.
Mr Henderson received a number of entries, however, it was Kevin‘s modern, computerised illustration, which stood out.
Mr Henderson said:
“I would like to thank all those who entered the competition. The standard of entries were very high, which shows there are a number of talented illustrators in my constituency, however, Kevin just had the edge with a modern design, which I hope will capture the imagination of the young children who read my book. I look forward to working with him.”
Kevin Ralph said:
“Competitions are something that I do not have much luck with so I am ecstatic that Gordon has chosen my work to illustrate his words. I believe very much that the sales of this book will increase funding and hope that my artwork will help to bring this story to the children's imagination.”
Mr Henderson wrote the book as part of his campaign to teach young children about the effects of litter on our environment and has read the story to pupils at a number of schools across Sittingbourne and Sheppey.
Mr Henderson is now looking for a publisher for his book, the profits of which will go to local charity, Litter Angels. For more information about the charity, please visit www.litterangels.org.
